Colleen Johnson to Release Debut Solo EP

'Driving at Midnight' will be out everywhere on August 20, 2026

Colleen Johnson's debut solo EP, 'Driving at Midnight,' will be released on all streaming platforms as well as Bandcamp and Subvert on August 20, 2026. This collection includes her most recent singles, as well as two new recordings and a bonus demo. The first three tracks were recorded in collaboration with Portland sound engineer and producer Max Baker, and the fourth track was recorded at Bleeding Roses Records with Marcus Lintner.

To celebrate the release, Johnson will perform her solo material at Starday Tavern in Portland on August 20th with support from fellow Portland musicians Kjirsten Tornfelt and The Long Drive.

Baby Grendel Announces Summer 2026 Tour

The band will revisit california and make its first journey to the southeast!

Catch Colleen on the road with Baby Grendel throughout the month of July alongside their fellow touring band, Star Eyes. To kick off the tour, Baby Grendel will return to Hallowed Halls in Portland for their release show celebrating their new EP Timeless (Do Flowers Grow on Barren Land).

"12 Bulls" and "Nocturama" both released in May, 2026

Featuring Colleen Johnson on keys and vocals alongside fellow Baby Grendel band members Jonathan Suarez (guitar, vocals), Andrew Cardenas (bass), Tomás Sakatani (lead guitar), and Alonzo Watson (drums), "12 Bulls" and "Nocturama" were recorded at Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon. They are the second and third singles from Baby Grendel's upcoming EP that will be fully released in June.

Colleen Johnson is a queer singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist making indie pop-rock music in Portland, Oregon. With influences spanning classical, jazz, and folk/americana music, her new EP Driving at Midnight is your soundtrack for falling in love during the apocalypse. The collection sketches a journey of complex emotion and sapphic yearning featuring sparkling guitar lines, soaring vocals, unique harmonies, and even some sexy saxophone. The project shares genre elements with boygenius, Mitsky, and The Beths, but with vocal stylings more similar to Chappell Roan, Brandi Carlile, and The Cranberries. Colleen is also keyboardist and backing vocalist for PNW post-punk band Baby Grendel.
